The Congress has made a big claim about the fire in petrol and diesel prices. The Congress has said in its claim that the reason for the hike in the price of petrol and diesel is not only the increase in the price of crude oil in the international market, but the government policies are responsible.

Congress said that compared to 2014, excise duty of petrol was 211.7 per cent while diesel has increased by 433 per cent in excise duty. According to Congress, where excise duty was 9.2 rupees per liter in petrol in 2014, it has now gone up to Rs 19.48 per liter.
