Kerala: Dead bodies flowing in flood waters, red alert of heavy rain in 11 districts; Death of 194, loss of 21,000 crores

Things are worsening by the flood in Kerala. Heavy rains, landslides and floods since August 8 have killed 194 people. Found 33 more bodies on Saturday. Of these, 15 bodies were flowing into flood waters. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department issued red alert due to the fear of heavy rains in 11 out of 14 districts of Kerala. All the districts except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kasargod can get heavy rains. The news agency quoted the officials as saying that the property worth Rs. 21,000 crore has been destroyed in the state.



Kerala is facing the worst flood of 94 years. More than 54,000 people were evacuated to safe places in the heavy rain erankulam district. Rahul said - Prime Minister declare national calamity: On Saturday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the affected areas. He announced to give additional assistance of 500 crores to the state. First aid was given to 100 crores. The family of the people killed in the calamity will be given Rs 2 lakh each from the center. Congress President Rahul Gandhi welcomed the Center's decision. He tweeted: "The lives of people in Kerala were at stake and it should be declared a national calamity without delay."


 

Drinking water crisis deepened in Kerala: Hospitals have reduced oxygen due to the severe calamity. Most gasoline pumps have dried due to the traffic stagnation. Drinking water crisis has deepened in many areas. South Railway is sending several wagons of drinking water from Tamil Nadu. The Department of Women and Child Development has sent packet of food. On the other hand, Kochi Airport is closed due to the flood. Air India has started its own airline from Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram. On Friday, 35 trains that were passing or going through the state were canceled. Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu tweeted: "Flight operations between Bengaluru and Kochi Naval Airbase will start from the morning of August 20th." Flooding in the Periyar river in Kochi flooded the airport premises in the airport, thereby blocking the flights operation.

 


Many states came forward to help: Chief Minister Vijayan appealed for help from people by sharing bank account number of Chief Minister Relief Fund via Twitter. Many artists including Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma and Abhishek Bachchan shared it and asked people to come forward for help. Telangana government declared 25 crore, Maharashtra 20, Uttar Pradesh 15, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh 10-10 and Odisha, Jharkhand and Himachal announced 5-5 million rupees. SBI has also given the help of two crore to Kerala. All MPs and MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party donated a month's salary to the flood victims.

 

Six districts of Karnataka are in the grip of flood: some parts of South Kannada, North Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan in Karnataka are in the grip of flood. Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy told that six people were killed in floods in Kodagu district. 11 thousand homes have been damaged. One thousand soldiers of Army and NDRF are engaged in relief work in flood affected areas. Air Force carried 873 people trapped in the floods in 17 relief camps. 16 other districts of Karnataka are in the grip of drought. In Kerala and Karnataka, along with other rivers including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the rivers Kaveri and Godavari are on the boom. Flood water is flooded in coastal villages.

 

Rain in four states including Gujarat: Monsoon has been active in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan again. It has been raining for the past three days in Maharashtra. Four people died in a flood in Rangavali river in Aurangabad on Friday. Even a young man was killed in Marathwada and Vidarbha. After a fortnight in Gujarat, heavy rainfall occurred in most parts except Kutch. Water pollution in Ahmedabad had a bearing on life. Rain has caught hold of parts of Madhya Pradesh and parts of Rajasthan too.
